RNLI Fundraiser

Alive Surf School and Woodies Surf Shop in Portrush would like to give a massive thanks everyone at überdog for their support of the 2010 RNLI fundraiser - HELPING US RAISE OVER £950 FOR THE LIFEBOAT.

The day (9th May) all ran according to plan with every class fully booked - kids, adults, boys and girls all had a ball. Surf conditions were perfect for beginners and there are now definitely more than a few people in Northern Ireland showing full symptoms of the surfing bug as a result! Each lesson was provided by Alive Surf School with the close support of Woodies Surf Shop to anyone who donated at least £20 to the lifeboat. Lessons lasted for 2 hours and were complimented by a cup of homemade soup (actually made by Ricky Martin believe it or not!) or a hot chocolate in the comfort of the Hallidays Citroen in the community - they provided a heated mobile living room including sofa, kitchen and prime viewing spot for all the surfing!!

The highlight of the day (apart from the surfing lessons of course) were the 2 'drive pasts' by the lifeboat and a wave from the volunteers who donate their time and risk their lives to make sure the rest of us are safe at sea. Over 100 photos of the day are found on the Alive Surf School Facebook page so become a fan and keep up-to-date with Alive.
